Broken

You can tell an album is good when even the two lead-in instrumental tracks are rated four notes. Broken has a harsher, angrier sound than Pretty Hate Machine and is more guitar and distortion oriented than Nine Inch Nail's first release. If you are looking for Trent Reznor playing melodic tunes on a keyboard, this album is not for you; however, if a heavier sound is what you are after, Broken is definitely worth a listen.

The cover of "Suck" is really well performed and, in my opinion, much better than Pigface's version. Likewise, the cover of "Physical (You're So)" is an improvement over Adam Ant's original song.

"Wish" is probably the most well known track on the album, but "Last" and "Gave Up" are, arguably, of better quality.

The only down-side to Broken is, if like me, you have the two hidden songs - "Suck" and "Physical (You're So)" - as tracks 98 and 99, and have an old CD player, your finger may get tired from skipping the 91 blank tracks. Those who play CDs in their computer, or have either of the other releases of this EP, should not have this issue.
