Truth Will Out
Carson gave this album
Okay, I will admit it, I like the Industrial genre. Anyone whose checked out the reviews on this site so far will be able to tell this. However, in Truth Will Out's case, I will make an exception.
It could be that I do not like Industrial mega-bands. It could be that I do not like live Industrial music (although I have enjoyed the concerts that I have attended). It could be that I don't like Pigface - which is possible, but this is the only album from them that I have heard, and I do like most of the bands Pigface draws its members from, so I will reserve judgment for later. Or, most probably, this is a terrible album.
I had purchased this album shortly after it was released in 1993, and have given it numerous chances to convince me over the years. Many of the songs seem overly repetitive to me: "Hips, Tits, Lips, Power!", "Point Blank", "Weightless", and "Alle Ist Mein". A few of the tracks are so drum-heavy that it is difficult to focus on the rest of the song - "Can You Feel Pain?", "Weightless", and "War Ich Nicht" come to mind. I also find the vocals to be rather hurtful to the ears on a few of the songs.
The faults ruin, what in my opinion, should have been a great album. The lyrics to many of the songs are insightful, the dialog between several of the tracks is humorous, and several of the songs are musically very interesting - when the rest of the instruments are not being drowned out by the drums.
Unfortunately, this turned out to be a mediocre album at best with only one redeeming song: "Suck". And the Nine Inch Nails version on Broken is much better. I would suggest - unless you are a die-hard Pigface fan - saving your money and buying another album.
