Ed Hunter contains Iron Maiden's 20 best songs as rated by fans on Iron Maiden's official web site; given this, most fans of Iron Maiden should enjoy the album.

Most of the tracks on the album are the standard studio versions from prior albums. The two exceptions to this are "Iron Maiden (Live)" and "Wrathchild (1999 Version)" which has Bruce Dickinson on vocals and, as such, ninety percent of the album is material that die-hard fans probably already have in their collection. However, this album is still a good addition to your music shelf to have all of their best songs (prior to 1999) back to back.

For the most part I agree with the choices of songs that made it to that album, but not necessarily the order of the tracks. For instance, "Wasted Years", "Aces High", "Stranger in a Strange Land", and "Run to the Hills" would be much lower numbered if my vote counted for more. Also, I disagree with many of the fans on a couple of the songs being on the album; I would replace "Man on the Edge", "The Clansman", and "Killers" with "Flight of Icarus", "Where Eagles Dare", and "Caught Somewhere in Time". Of course, I am partial to Somewhere in Time and Piece of Mind, so my views are probably skewed.

The best song on the album, in my opinion, is "Fear of the Dark" - which I use as the unknown caller ring-tone on my cell phone. Conversely, the worst track has to be "The Clansman" whose beginning sounds like muzak.

In short, I mostly agree with the rest of Iron Maiden's fans for the choices on the album but have a few, mostly minor issues. Even though I have about half of the songs on the album on prior releases, I felt that the purchase was well worth the price for the two tracks that were not on earlier releases and the accompanying video game.
