Apple and the music industry disagree

Recently, MSN published an article concerning changes in the way online music is being distributed and the disagreements between Apple and the music industry. The industry wants songs to be DRM encumbered, while Apple does not. Also the industry wishes for Apple to raise prices, while Apple – for obvious competitive reasons – favors lowering prices.

Turning podcasts into normal mp3s

A few weeks ago I suggested subscribing to Last.fm’s podcast of recommended free music. If you use iTunes, you can get even benefit from this service by downloading two no cost programs: Mp3tag and MixMeister BPM Analyzer.

Free live music in Memphis

Over Christmas and New Year’s I was in Memphis visiting my in-laws and was able to go to Celtic Crossing. This is one of my favorite places to listen to live music as it is usually not overly crowded, too noisy, or filled with obnoxious drunks.

Christmas annoyance

First of all, I want to wish everyon a Merry Christmas or appropriate greeting for your winter-time holiday. However, the main point of this post is that I am getting really sick of Christmas music and am thankful that either tomorrow or 11 more days from now it will all go away. I am, of course, talking about the endless loop of Yuletide cheer coming from my radio.

Albums for review 2008-12-24

Since most of my money went to buying gifts for others instead of CDs for me, I only ordered one new CD this month. Actually, the only reason that I even ordered this is that I had Pepsi points that were going to expire soon. Hopefully, sometime in the new year, you will be able to read a review of "Toxicity" by System of a Down on the music reviews site.
