Tubeify Review

Tubeify is a new "web 2.0" service that is a combines several music related services into a useful online music experience. It is still missing a couple of features in my opinion, but it appears to still be in Beta as you have to have an invite to join, so I expect more features to be added later.

Opinions on iTunes 10

Recently, I upgraded to iTunes 10.0.0.68. I really should learn to stop upgrading (or is it downgrading) as I am almost always more disappointed than happy with the experience.

Last.fm’s unwise decision

Last.fm has changed their API; for those who are not programmers, an API (application programming interface) is a set of routines that allow a program to make requests to another program or web service. In and of itself, changing an API is not a bad thing and, in many cases, can be quite beneficial. For instance, adding new features to an API can allow programmers more options for interracting with the product.

iTunes in Linux

iTunes runs under Wine, albeit rather slowly. I can attest to this as I have personally installed in on the Ubuntu 8.04 64-bit partition on my office computer using the newest stable version of Wine. I have not tried the store, but DAAP (the protocol that allows iTunes to share music with other computers) works flawlessly. Music plays without skipping or lag, but scrolling through your library can take an exceedingly long time.
