Last.fm Widget for Facebook 1.01 released

Yep, that’s right, there’s a new version of Music Discussions’ Last.fm Widget for Facebook. Version 1.01 introduces a new feature requested by several users.

Last.fm returns the date in UTC format however, this can be inconvenient if you are not living in the UK. The widget now looks up the current profile viewer’s timezone and adjusts the dates based on their offset. There are a couple of reasons for using the profile viewer’s timezone rather than the timezone of the person whose profile is being viewed. First is laziness; it is easier to obtain the current user’s timezone than it is to obtain the timezone of the profile’s owner. The second – and more important – reason is that, unless the profile viewer know’s what timezone their friend is in, the time displayed would not be very meaningful to them.

The times appear to be working correctly for me however, if you notice the time is not displaying correctly for you please post the following information. What time was displayed, what time should have been displayed, your timezone, and if you are currently in daylight savings time (if applicable).

As always, if you find any other bugs or have a feature request, please let me know.
