Why is everyone so friendly?

Recently, I had received three friend requests on Jamendo. This, in and of itself, is not unusual; however, there are a couple of things that confuse me.

First, I really haven’t been in my Jamendo account since I created it so I am not an active community member. And, as near as I can tell, I do not know these people in real life. Therefore, why did they send me a friend request. Since I am not active on the site, it is unlikely that I will be that valuable of an online "friend".

Also, people on social networking sites in general (if "Jamendo" can even be loosely lumped into this group) who friend request others whome they have
never talked to confuse me. Why would you want a friend that you have never talked to? What possible benefit would that have? In the one case, I think
the reason that the requester send me the message is that he has a group and I assume is trying to spread the word. This is probably not the best way to do
this, but at least he is being pro-active.

Along those same lines, I accepted both requests as I hope to have the six songs that I started production on ready by this time next year. If so, I will release the album / EP to Jamendo and Magnatune and, hopefully, my new "friends" will will check it out.

Incidentally, if you would like to hear a demo of one of the tracks, here is a link to "Eff-Bahm". Please feel free to leave a comment; I take all criticism as constructive. However, if you want to leave a message telling me that it is a steaming pile, please let me know specifics on what makes it so intolerable. Of course, comments along the lines of "This is the best song I have ever heard!" are also appreciated.
