Mondegreen site
Today I wanted to share that I came across in the late 1990’s and that is still around. Am I Right used to just be an extensive list of mondegreens (misheard lyrics), but has become much more during the intervening years.
Admittedly, I still mainly go to the misheard lyrics portion of the site, but there is also a trivia section, actual lyric listings, and song parodies. It can be easy to lose track of time when going through the vast archives of what others have heard in songs that you would swear were clearly sung.
Although, songs by certain artists can be exceptionally difficult to understand either due to thick accents, lack of enunciation, poor recording quality, or whatever. For those songs, the misunderstandings can be extremely wacky, and it can be fun to compare your mondegreens with those of other people.
The site can be difficult to navigate at times as there have been numerous changes to it over the years, and it appears as if the menu was an afterthought instead of being planned out. The placement of the navigation bar is to the immediate right of the logo and is a place where I expect to find advertisements, thus I end up tuning it out and having to hunt for it. Okay, enough of my diatribe about the page layout; this is a music blog, not and SEO and web development blog.
Their database is extensive and that is more than enough of an incentive to overlook minor design issues. For instance, there are – at the time of this post – 1509 entries for misunderstood Beatles lyrics alone.
