In many cases cover songs fail to live up to the standards set by the original artists, but Shiny Toy Guns has really hit the mark with Stripped.

Unlike many newer singles that have as many (or more) tracks as a full-album, Stripped truly is a single; it's two songs would equate to an "A" side and a "B" side a few decades ago.

Shiny Toy Guns actually managed to improved upon both of the tracks, which is quite impressive as "Stripped" is one of Depeche Mode's best songs. This version of "Stripped" features a more pronounced trade-off of vocals than was present in the original. The tone is also darker than the original which is a better match for the lyrics.

"Nothing Compares 2 U", while still having some of the feel of an early Prince song, employs the heavy use of vocal effects that Shiny Toy Guns is known for. It feels like it goes on a bit too long, but is a great improvement over other versions that seem a too bland sounding.

While this is an extremely short single, I would still recommend it if you don't have to pay too much. Also, if you have trouble finding this album, it seems to have been released with two different covers; one was called Stripped and the other was called Stripped / Nothing Compares 2 U. The track listings appear to be identical.
