So its time once again to list my random music-related thoughts and observations.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

First off, I would like to extend my condolences to the families, friends, and fans of Don Cornelius and Whitney Houston.<\/p>\n

NPR ran a segment on what people listened to when they worked out which made me remember the article I wrote on calculating how many BPM<\/a> treadmill users should listen to. This story also surprised me in that some people listen to Classical while working out; with many pieces varying their tempo throughout, I would find this difficult.<\/p>\n

While at a local sushi restaurant two nights ago, I was shocked that they were playing a near constant stream of Reggae. Sometimes it is amusing to live in such a diversified country.<\/p>\n

I hadn’t realized how influential The Chieftains are until I Paddy Moloney on NPR the other day. It turns out that many big name stars are fans. Also of note, one of Moloney’s whistles went into space and was played and – what may be the first – music in space was performed on it.<\/p>\n

I was irritated by all of the commotion regarding Dave Mustaine’s pick of Santorum<\/a> for President.<\/p>\n

Finally, Alice Cooper is opening for Iron Maiden during their tour recreating Maiden England.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
