Since I have many thoughts that – on their own – are not long enough to make an entire post, I am starting a new weekly feature called "Weekly Observations" which will contain all of my music related thoughts from that week. I intend to release one every Saturday or Sunday, so be sure to check back. This week’s updates are focused on eMusic problem resolutions, NPR faux pas, and Megadeth.<\/p>\n

Over the holiday weekend, I received an e-mail from eMusic stating that they believed the problem I was experiencing<\/a> should be resolved and asked me to try downloading again. I waited until Monday to download anything though since I download music to my work computer and rsync my music folder to my Linux box at home (thus giving me an offsite backup). I am pleased to announce that everything went extremely well! I had to retry two tracks (out of around 30 or so), but I started having connectivity issues (including dropped packets) for about a 2 minute period so this is expected and not a problem on eMusic’s end. Even better, I am able to download in both Firefox and Chrome again. It looks as if most of their major user-facing issues have been resolved.<\/p>\n

Wednesday on NPR when announcing Billy Idol’s birthday, he was referred to as a Pop musician. I am not entirely sure that whoever wrote this sound bite has ever listened to his music as his style has always felt like a fusion of Metal and Punk to me. Wikipedia claims that he falls into the Hard Rock, Punk Rock, New Wave, and Post-Punk genres, so there you go. I realize that this was just intended to be a simple birthday announcement, but a little fact checking would still have been nice.<\/p>\n

Also on Wednesday, I received an e-mail announcing that my "Cyber Army"<\/a> quot;Ultimate Soldier Megapack" had shipped! I signed up for Megadeth’s fan club over Halloween weekend because they had a limited time offer which – besides everything else in the welcome package – included a copy of their new album Th1rt3en<\/em> signed by the band.<\/p>\n
