Giving Voice: Guitar Explorations

A couple of weeks ago, I received a copy of Richard Osborn's guitar solo album, Giving Voice: Guitar Explorations. After listening to it, I found that it was definitely not what I was expecting.
Unlike many solo instrument compositions that I have heard, the music on Giving Voice: Guitar Explorations is complex and textured. Most of the tracks on the album are calm and relaxing and would work well for meditating. I also could picture Richard Osborn playing at a local coffee house or for a group around a campfire.
Just purely from a listening standpoint, some of the tracks felt like they went on too long. This would not be an issue though for those using the music for relaxation. However, one song, "The Glance" had too much open space for relaxation as I felt jarred a few times while listening to it. This was the only song that felt out of place though, and - as a whole - the songs works well together.
"Joelle's Song" is one of the more lively tracks, but even it feels at home on Giving Voice: Guitar Explorations. While, "The View From San Damiano, With Rain" would be an ideal song to play for someone wanting to know what the album sounds like. With it's melodic tune and imagery, this song captures the overall tone of the album perfectly.
For anyone who appreciates great guitar work, is looking for relaxing music, or an album to play while having dinner with family by the fireplace, this album is for you.
