Down in It is the first release by Nine Inch Nails (Halo 1 for those keeping track using Trent Reznor's numbering system) and paved the way for Pretty Hate Machine on which the song would later be featured.

"Down in It (skin)" is the album version of the song, so I will not be covering at length here. "Down in It (shred)" does not deviate much from the album version, with the notable exception of the several minute long outro. The third song on the single, "Down in It (singe)", is a mostly non-vocal version with new "instruments" and sections added.

Unlike the Head Like a Hole (UK) single, there are no significantly divergent offerings on Down in It, but if you would like to listen to "Down in It" for roughly seventeen and a half minutes straight, then this single is for you. On a more serious note though, this is a great addition to an iTunes playlist where you are likely to get a different version each time the song is randomly selected.
